A few weeks back I was asked by Tanya to do her engagement photos. Of course I said yes but I had my reservations. Most of my work has been landscapes and scenery. I hadn't done much portrait work. My only other portrait work was Christmas card photos with Mandy, Jared and Jax. I was less worried about those since if I screwed those up it was only one bad year of Christmas cards. But engagement photos? You only get one chance. I did some research and looked at some examples to get a few ideas but it didn't help with my feelings of lack of skill. Surprisingly once we got to each location the ideas just sort of came to me and we got a bunch of great shots.
Tanya and Jo were great. They were cool with my ideas and had a bunch of their own...well, Tanya had a bunch of her own. Each shot we took they loved and as the shoot went longer I started to get some confidence and began to think that maybe I really could do this.
It was my "you do have what it takes" moment and I don't believe I would've had it without Tanya and Jo. So for that, thank you for having confidence in me. I had a great time and your photos turned out great. I can't wait for everyone to see them at your engagement party this weekend.
